Today I decided to do a photo and video project showing a full day in the life of a barefooter. The photos are ready to post now – I still want to shoot one more little section of video but we’re late enough in the day that I’m not going to be doing anything else hugely exciting, just work and then bed time to look forward to, so I thought I’d get these up now.
I got up, had some breakfast and then decided to lounge around for a while longer.
I always sleep in my corset unless I’m sick, it takes some getting used to but I’m comfier with it on than without now. I usually take it off quickly for my morning shower, put on a fresh corset liner and get straight back into it, but today I had a bit of a stomach ache so I took the day off wearing it. I don’t always sleep in jewellery – I’ve just been lazy about taking it off at night time the last couple of days, the ankle chains are really comfy I tend to forget I’ve got them on.
I took my dog for a walk before I went into town, but I didn’t take the stills camera out with me, that’s in the video. Buses are a really good place to get properly dirty feet, if you like that. I totally do, I can’t put my finger on why I just think black soles look properly awesome. I’ve always kinda liked things that are a little bit gross, in a fun way not a properly disgusting way.
I’m trying to get better about not putting my feet up on the seats. Everyone does it, but a lot of people are grossed out by bare feet (especially dirty bare feet) and I don’t want to give barefooters a bad name by indulging my bad habits. I figure the window edge bits are going to be pretty dirty anyway and people aren’t sitting there and they don’t need to put their hands there. I know, it’s still a bad habit, but I’m never comfortable sitting with my feet on the ground for ages.
I love these photos, it’s often really hard to get flattering light on the bus but I look cute!
In town we did the urgent stuff first – bank and post office – then went to get some food. I was craving a cheese pretzel – if you get a chance to try an Auntie Anne’s pretzel do it, they’re amazing. I almost always get cheese, they have lovely burned cheese bits and big crystals of salt.
It’s in Eldon Square (indoor shopping centre), which seems to be barefoot friendly though individual shops might not be. Auntie Anne’s is just a stand, there’s no indoors to it, so if you’re nervous about going out to eat barefoot you’re guaranteed no hassle.
We stopped in Burger King next, in theory just for Adam to get some food but I ended up having some too – oops! No idea if Burger King are barefoot friendly, I don’t think the staff have ever noticed my feet, but we’re in there pretty often.
Then we went for a wander around town – Northumberland Street is always crazy busy at the weekends with crowds of shoppers, ambushes of charity collectors, musicians and religious protesters. I like the busyness of it (although I could definitely do without the very pushy and occasionally abusive charity collectors, and my day is never improved by religious nutters).
I couldn’t resist the urge to be a bit silly:
Then we went into Wilkinson’s to buy toothpaste (oh so exciting!).
Then had some time to kill before our check up at Blue Lotus – I was due for my one month check on my Rhino piercing, and Adam was having some problems with one of the balls on his surface piercing coming unscrewed and wanted to get it tightened. But first we went to have a browse around Eldon Square. Went into Lush and I tried on a men’s body spray called ‘Dirty’, I don’t know, the name appealed to me I guess! Hours later I still smell nice, definitely masculine but whatever, it doesn’t make much difference to me as long as I like it! Then went into Fenwick to ride the escalator and window shop for sewing fabrics.
I’m constantly in the sewing departments of Fenwick and John Lewis, I sew a lot and eventually hope to have a wardrobe almost entirely of my own clothes I’ve made, and ideally eventually designed as well. I’ve already started making big alterations to patterns and would love to learn to draw them up from scratch. I’m working on a suit at the moment which is taking ages so I’m not buying any new fabric but it’s nice to get ideas for the future.
Window shopping turned into a bit of actual shopping, I bought some red cord to make some barefoot sandals. Only about £3 so I don’t feel too bad for spending when we’ve got bills to pay!
We went in for the check-up at Blue Lotus and everything was good. My Rhino piercing is healing well and Adam’s surface piercing is fine now it’s been tightened up. Nici (the piercer) told me she’s started going barefoot occasionally which is awesome!
Then all we had to do was get on the bus and head home.
I shot some video on the bus so you’ll see that later. Passed some really mature graffiti near the Byker bridge:
When we got home I noticed my feet were feeling a little dry, and although not exactly sore they sort of felt tingly so I decided to do a foot soak and moisturise.
My sleep pattern is screwed up so I ended up taking a little nap on the sofa after cleaning up my feet. When I woke up I had some work to do video editing some of my fetish movies and of course writing this post. I got Adam to snap one last quick photo:
And that’s my day so far! The video should be up within the next day or two, I’ve got quite a lot of editing still to do for work stuff so that’ll have to come first but keep an eye out, it shouldn’t be too long.
